CARE

INSTRUCTIONS

What you should avoid:

  • Please do not leave any items that you purchase from us in an environment that can or will experience drastic temperature changes. Cars are especially bad places for storage as the constant temperature fluctuations from hot to cold could eventually crack your finish due to the expansion and contraction that woods are naturally prone to.

  • If items are left out in direct sunlight, you can experience the same issues that temperature fluctuations cause and you risk cracking your finish. In addition, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can and will most likely fade the color of the wood and can discolor the finish.

  • Bowls and platters vary in their finishes and require different methods of care. For further instructions, please visit the damage section in our FAQ.

  • Please be aware that bowls and platters with natural inclusions, such as knots, cracks, and holes will require additional care. It is important not to drop these items as the right angle can and will break the item. Extra precautions have been taken with these items including a more durable finish and a thicker wall but this does not guarantee an accident will not happen.

  • While the CA finish on our pens, pencils, and keychain items is very durable, it is not indestructible. Please take care of your items and be sure not to drop them or rub them up against any type of sharp object. Finishes are still prone to damage in certain circumstances. It is recommended that you store your item in the bag or box it was shipped in when not in use to avoid these sorts of problems.

  • To buff out minor scratches on our pens, pencils, and keychain items, an automotive polish can be used. Polishes will have directions on their bottles that can be followed as each brand has slightly different instructions.

  • For general cleaning, a soft or microfiber cleaning cloth can be used.

  • Never use harsh chemicals for cleaning purposes. There is always the possibility they will interact poorly with the CA finish. Harsh chemicals can also strip the oil or water-based finish off of a finished bowl or platter and special care instructions should be followed.
